Do you ever find yourself thinking about what you were meant to do with your life? From a young age, I’ve always wanted to inspire others. I loved dancing on stages, performing songs for my family after dinners, and wearing extravagant outfits to school that my mom would laugh at and take pictures of. I just wanted to stand out.
That’s when I realized my purpose is simply to inspire others. An influencer, if you will. Life is really what you make it. Do you want to lose weight? Then do so. Do you want to learn a new language? Well, download Duolingo! There is no right or wrong answer, and it is never too late to start. Each small step forward is unique and beautiful.

There is a difference between searching for meaning and investing in yourself. Instead of endlessly debating life’s purpose, recognize that life is too short for such worries. Focus on your joys, family, friends, health, and skills. Directing energy toward what brings positivity will give you fulfillment and happiness. In doing so, you can define your own purpose. Whether that’s helping others, building your career, nurturing relationships, sharing wisdom, or fostering creativity.
Here are some ways you can explore your purpose:
- Know the things you care about.
- Reflect on what matters most to you.
- Recognize your strengths and talents.
- Try volunteering.
- Imagine your best self possible.
- Cultivate positive emotions like gratitude and awe.
- Look to the people you admire.
Why does finding your purpose matter so much?
Having a sense of purpose provides direction, which improves mental and physical health by reducing stress, increasing resilience, and boosting overall life satisfaction. It is also associated with many health benefits, such as sharper memory and cognitive function, better mood regulation, reduced risk of chronic disease, and even reduced risk of disability.
Don’t be an NPC because life is worth more than just going through the motions. Give back to the earth and share your unique gifts!
